MECO Announces Scheduled Outage in Hana

In an effort to improve electrical service to customers in East Maui, Maui Electric will be conducting work on the 23 kilovolt transmission line to Hana next week.

The work will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, August 23, and will affect sections of the Hana Highway from Ulumalu Road in Haiku (including Huelo, Kailua, Keanae, and Nahiku) to Kaeleku in Hana.

The work involves replacing utility poles and reconnecting power lines. Customers in the area can expect an interruption in electrical service while work is underway.

Officials from MECO apologized for the inconvenience the understanding of the community members affected.
