Attendance at the 90th Maui Fair is still being tallied this morning, as the four-day event wrapped up last night.

The Joy Zone stayed open a half hour later than planned on Sunday because many fair-goers remained in lines at closing, said Fair Managing Director Sherri Grimes.

According to Grimes, the last gate count was similar to last year, but the official count has yet to be tallied, which includes an estimated 46% rise in pre-sale tickets and an increase in parade participation.

Another contributing factor is an increase in participation in Events Arena activities including the Robotics and Lego competitions.

In 2011, the Maui Fair drew than 92,700, representing an increase from the year before, but a slight dip from previous years when better economic conditions prevailed.
