Case Against Maui Prosecutor’s Office Dismissed
By Maui Now Staff
A US District Judge reportedly issued a ruling on Wednesday in favor of the County of Maui following a suit alleging discrimination against a former employee.
Plaintiff Jacki Jura, who was a Deputy Prosecuting for the County for about one year, filed the suit against the County of Maui, as well as former Prosecuting Attorney Benjamin Acob and former Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Marie Kosegarten.
County officials issued a press release today saying Jura’s suit alleged that she was discriminated against based on gender, disability and pregnancy; and also claimed that she was exposed to a hostile working environment.
County officials say Jura was terminated in 2007 for what they described as “poor performance.”
United States District Judge Susan Oki Mollway reportedly granted summary judgment to the County and the two individuals named in the suit.
