Water customers in Keanae and Nahiku on Maui are being asked to conserve water on Monday, October 29, 2012, due to a scheduled power outage by Maui Electric Company.

Officials say that between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., the Maui Department of Water Supply will not be able to fill water storage tanks due to the interruption in electrical service.

Customers are asked to use water only as needed for health and safety purposes in order to extend the supply available in the storage tanks until the water can be restored to safe levels.

Customers should call the 24-hour service line at 270-7633 only if a water problem occurs.

The MECO electrical work will be conducted over the same time period, and will result in an interruption of electrical service for customers on Hana Highway from Ulumalu Road to Kaeleku Place in Hana near mile marker 31.
