A waterline replacement work project starts today, Dec.3, 2012, in Haiku, and is expected to affect traffic on Kaupakalua Road for several months.

The capital improvement project will replace an undersized waterline with a larger one, equipped to provide sufficient fire protection for surrounding residents.

Contractor West Maui Construction will replace the waterline on Kaupakalua Road from the Ulumalu Road intersection at “Five Corners” to approximately 400 feet east of the Kawelo Road intersection.

Work is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday excluding holidays. During construction, traffic may be limited to one lane only. Motorists are asked to use caution and follow traffic control.

The contractor will notify customers when water service will be affected. Customers are requested to call the 24-hour service line (270-7633) only if a water problem occurs.
