Hawaiian Style Volleyball Fundraiser

The Hawaiian Style 17 girls volleyball team is hosting a Christmas “Tree-Cycling” event as a fundraiser to raise money to cover team travel expenses.

The service is offered for a $10 donation in the Pukalani, Kula, and Makawao areas.

Tree-cycling will take place on Jan. 5, 2013, and reservations must be placed by Friday, Jan. 4.

Trees must be completely bare of ornaments, and visible from the roadside. For more information, call 283-8999.

Maui Cultural Lands, Inc. Tree-Cycling Day

In West Maui, tree-cycling will be offered by Maui Cultural Lands, Inc, a Maui-based grassroots land trust organization whose mission is to stabilize, protect, and restore Hawaiian cultural resources. The

Tree-cycling runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 5th at the Puukolii Train Station.

Event organizers say the aim is to keep Christmas trees out of the landfill, and utilize the chips for weed suppression in Honokowai Valley.

Trees being dropped off should be free of tinsel and decorations. No artificial trees will be accepted.
