By Wendy Osher
Fire crews from Hana were dispatched to Koki Beach for reports of a possible drowning at 3:13 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 23.
The man was pulled out of the water by beach goers who initiated CPR prior to the arrival of fire personnel on scene, said Maui Fire Services Chief Lee Mainaga.
Crews from Engine-7 continued CPR upon arrival until Medics arrived and took over treatment, said Mainaga.
Officials say the victim, described as a 53-year-old man from Kuau, was transported to the Hana Clinic, where he was later pronounced dead.
