Raatz New Director of Maui Council Services

Legislative Attorney, David M. Raatz, Jr. has been selected as the new director for the Office of Council Services on Maui.
The announcement was made today by Maui Council Chair Gladys C. Baisa who expressed excitement over the selection saying Raatz has a, “wealth of knowledge about county operations and municipal law.” In a public statement, Baisa said, “He is more than qualified to assist the Council in the conduct of its business and to manage the Office of Council Services.”
Raatz most recently worked as the Program Director for the Maui Economic Development Board. Prior to that, he served for 16 years as the legislative attorney in the Office of Council Services.
Raatz graduated from Loyola Law School in 1993, and went on to work at the Honolulu City Council. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sports Information from the University of Southern California, and worked as a sports journalist prior to attending law school.
The Office of Council Services is responsible for research, clerical and logistical support to the committees of the County Council and to Council members.
Raatz’s term coincides with the term of the Council, which expires on Jan. 2, 2015.
