2nd Pukalani Bank Robbery in 4 Weeks

Maui police are seeking the public’s help in identifying a suspect wanted for the robbery of the First Hawaiian Bank in Pukalani for the second time in four weeks.

The incident was reported at 3:05 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 19 at the branch located at 67 Makawao Avenue. The previous robbery at the bank occurred Jan. 24.

Upon entering the bank, police say the suspect ordered all of the bank’s customer on the ground and then proceeded to the each teller’s window and demanded money.

According to police reports, the suspect allegedly used an unknown type of bag, which police say he handed to the tellers and ordered them to put the money into.

During this robbery, the suspect allegedly brandished an unknown type of handgun, and fled the bank with an unknown amount of cash.

Police say the unknown suspect should be considered armed and dangerous.

The suspect is described as a male with fair skin, possibly in his late 20s to 30s with a round face and heavy build, weighing 160 to 190 pounds, and standing 5’7″ to 5’9″ tall.  The individual was described as having a medium brown short crew style haircut, and could possibly have a receding hairline on the sides of his head.

The man was described as wearing a dark color hooded sweat jacket with a small white logo-type design on the top back middle portion of the neck; a camouflage green bandana; thick camouflage green gloves; thick black frame sunglasses; light color jeans; and possibly tennis shoes.

The suspect was last seen fleeing the bank towards the back parking lot of the bank, where he allegedly got onto the back of a dirt bike–described as yellow in color with black lettering. Police said the dirt bike was being driven by another male operator, who was wearing camouflage pants. The two allegedly fled the area together.
