Strong trade winds will keep surf rough and elevated along the east shores through Tuesday night.

The National Weather Service issued a high surf advisory for the east facing shores of Maui and Molokai until 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 26.

Forecasters say surf heights will be in the 7 to 10-foot range along affected shorelines.

The advisory conditions, NWS officials say, will produce rip currents and localized beach erosion.

As a precaution, beachgoers are urged to stay out of the water and away from the shore break.
