Council committees on Maui are finalizing items this week before the Fiscal Year 2014 Budget Session begins at the end of the month. Key items up for consideration include a proposed amendment seeking additional funds for the new Kihei Police Station, and legislation to grant land use approvals for the proposed new Kihei High School.
This afternoon, the Infrastructure and Environmental Management Committee will receive a presentation from the Department of Public Works on projects planned by the highways and engineering divisions.
Tomorrow, the Budget and Finance Committee will consider a bill relating to the new Kihei Police Station under construction in South Maui. A proposed amendment would add another $3.25 million for Bond Funds to support construction of the facility. That meeting gets underway at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, March 12.
Also tomorrow, the Council Committee on Economic Development, Energy, Agriculture, and Recreation will receive a presentation from the Mayor’s Office on Economic Development relating to the promotion of business development on Maui. The meeting begins at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12, in the Council Chambers.
