Maui’s HC&S Begins 141st Sugar Harvest
By Wendy Osher
The Hawaiian Commercial & Sugar Company began its harvest schedule on March 12, marking the start of its 141st season.
The company has two locations listed on its cane burning and harvesting schedule this week.
After unfavorable weather conditions over the weekend, the company plans to resume cane burning operations in the Pulehu region above the Maui County landfill tomorrow, Tuesday, March 26.
There’s also harvesting planned in North Kihei on Friday and Saturday, March 29-30.
Company officials say schedules can change based on updated weather forecasts and operating conditions at the processing plant.
The public can access updated cane buring schedules via text, email, or online at HCSugar.com.
