New Online Reservation System for Haleakalā Crater Wilderness Campsites
Visitors intending to backpack in Haleakalā National Park will soon be able to reserve Haleakalā Crater wilderness campsites in advance. Reservations for wilderness campsites Palikū and Hōlua will go live on Recreation.gov beginning April 22, 2021 at 7 a.m.

April 15, 2021 COVID-19 Update: 98 Cases (59 O‘ahu, 24 Maui, 14 Hawai‘i Island, 1 Moloka‘i)
The state Department of Health reports that there were 98 additional COVID-19 cases reported in Hawai‘i on Thursday, including 59 on O‘ahu, 24 on Maui, 14 on Hawai‘i Island, and one on Moloka‘i. There were a total of 1,242 cases logged over the past two weeks, 303 of them in Maui County.

This includes: seven in the travel/lodging/tourism sector, six at educational settings, two at a food suppliers, two at restaurants, two in occupational settings, one cluster at a correctional facility, and one at a place of worship.
Hawaiʻi Unemployment Rate Drops Slightly to 9% for March 2021, But Higher Than National Rate of 6%
The state of Hawaiʻi’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for March 2021 was 9 percent compared to 9.2 percent in February, with 590,800 people employed and 58,750 unemployed in March for a total seasonally adjusted labor force of 649,550, according to the Hawai‘i State Department of Labor & Industrial Relations.
