PIANO SYNERGY - a Father's Day Special!

Keokea...On June 17th and18th (Father's Day), 2023, Ebb & Flow Arts will present Piano Synergy - 4 concerts of multi-piano music over the course of 24 hours. The site of these concerts is Maui Music Conservatory (MMC), Ruth Murata, owner. MMC is located in the Queen Ka‘ahumanu Center (first floor near the old Sears store), 275 W. Ka‘ahumanu Ave., Kahului.

Admission is free!

"We are thrilled to present music on Father's Day by fathers of modern music such as Igor Stravinsky and Aaron Copland ," explains Robert Pollock, Executive Director of E&FA. "Our invited composer/pianists from Canada and France will add to the synergy," he adds. Celebrate Father's Day by attending an amazing display of seminal works for multi-pianos.

We will also celebrate the centenary of a father of minimalism, Simeon ten Holt (the Netherlands). Performances of his Canto Ostinato for four pianos will occur on Saturday, June 17th, 7PM, and Sunday, June 18th, 6:30PM. Canto Ostinato is a renowned work. Our guest from France, Kees Wieringa, is its foremost interpreter.

On Sunday, June 18th, Wieringa will perform a solo recital at 3PM that includes works by Jacob ter Veldhuis and Alvin Curran.  At 4PM Maui pianists Damira Feldman, Brad Thompson, and Robert Pollock, and Cheryl Cooney (Canada),  will perform solo works by Cooney and Pollock, duo piano works - Igor Stravinsky's Sonata for two pianos, and Aaron Copland's Danzon Cubano - and Cheryl Cooney's Sleight of Hand for three pianos.

Seating is limited. Please arrive early.
