We are excited to kick-off the 2024 Sentry PGA TOUR event at Kapalua’s Plantation Course January 4-7, 2024.
In addition to watching the top professional golfers compete, this new season and new year bring big consequences as part of the PGA TOUR’s Opening Drive. At The Sentry players start with zero FedExCup Points and look to get off to a strong start in the race for the FedExCup. The first Signature Event within the TOUR season, The Sentry hosts an accomplished yet limited field with increased prize money and FedExCup Points on the line. With an expanded field featuring TOUR winners and the top 50 members from the final FedExCup standings, the golf’s biggest stars arrive on Maui giving fans a front row seat to witness the best players in the world!
In addition to the golf action, there are several events and highlights during tournament week to showcase the beauty of our islands, celebrate our traditions and show our Aloha for the community:
First Tee Ceremony – Thursday, January 4th at 6:45 am
Fans are encouraged to arrive early to observe and participate in Hawaiian blessings and chants to celebrate the new year by welcoming the start of regrowth, renewal and rebirth as the sun rises over The Plantation Course at Kapalua. Gates open at 6:30 a.m., First Tee Ceremony begins at 6:45 a.m. and the opening tee shot will be hit at 7:30 a.m. as the first round of competition at The Sentry begins.
Aloha Friday – Friday, January 5th
Aloha Friday is a weekly tradition in the Maui community and across the Hawaiian Islands, which welcomes the weekend during the last workday of the week. PGA TOUR players, broadcasters, volunteers, and fans participate in the local tradition by wearing Aloha attire on Friday at The Sentry.
For the sixth consecutive year, Sentry Insurance Foundation will donate $1,000 per clothing item (hat, shirt, pants, shoes) when TOUR players participate in the Aloha Friday tradition during the second round of competition at The Sentry. Fans attending on Friday are encouraged to join in the spirit by wearing their Aloha attire too!
“Lahaina Strong” Saturday – Saturday, January 6th
On Saturday, The Sentry will distribute red t-shirts to fans at the Main Entry in partnership with Lahainaluna High School Foundation – one of the tournament’s primary charitable beneficiaries. At the Main Entry, Lahainaluna football players and cheerleaders will help distribute the red t-shirts, which features “Lahaina Strong” on the front and a QR code that links out to a donation page for Lahainaluna High School Foundation. The Sentry encourages all fans to wear red to the tournament on Saturday.
We hope to see you at Kapalua. For additional information, please visit www.thesentry.com
