Surfing Moms Hosts Community-Wide Mother’s Day Beach Celebration Across Hawai‘i

O‘ahu, Maui, and Hawai‘i Island — This Mother’s Day weekend, Surfing Moms invites families, friends, and community members to gather for a joyful, ocean-centered celebration honoring mothers and maternal wellbeing. On Saturday, May 9 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, the day before Mother’s Day, Surfing Moms will host simultaneous beachside events across three islands, welcoming both members and the broader community.

The Mother’s Day Open House & Beach Celebration will take place at Launiupoko Beach Park (Maui), Honoli‘i Beach Park (Hawai‘i Island), and White Plains Beach (O‘ahu). Each location will feature food and refreshments, raffles, opportunities to meet local Surfing Moms coordinators, and a chance to learn more about the organization’s unique approach to maternal wellness through surf-inspired community care.

This event is generously supported by the Duke Kahanamoku Foundation, whose commitment to ocean sports and community aligns with Surfing Moms’ mission to expand access to surf and support maternal wellbeing.

Surfing Moms is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to supporting mothers through connection, movement, and time in the ocean. With a growing network of local groups in Hawai‘i and on the mainland, the organization provides accessible, research-informed programs that help reduce isolation and promote mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing for mothers.

“This event is about creating space for moms to feel seen, supported, and celebrated,” said Elizabeth Madin, Surfing Moms President. “We’re opening our doors to the wider community to share what Surfing Moms is all about—connection, joy, and the healing power of the ocean.”

Attendees can expect a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere where they can connect with other mothers, explore Surfing Moms programming, and enjoy a relaxed day at the beach. Whether new to surfing or simply curious about the community, all are encouraged to attend.
