The Jazz Maui 2024 Maui Music Series presents vocalist Victor Fields in concert on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at ProArts Playhouse 1280 S. Kihei Road, Kihei. The show begins at 7:30pm and tickets are available at www.ProArtsMaui.org.
Victor Fields has been described as belonging to the rare species of silky soul jazz singers. A Billboard-charted artist in both contemporary jazz and R&B, Victor has a rich gauzy tenor and the ability to move seamlessly between blues, jazz, R&B, and pop. The legendary singer Lou Rawls called him, “the man with the golden voice”. The Los Angeles Times said he is "a stylistically accomplished singer", and Chicago Jazz Magazine recognized him as "one of the most dynamic and versatile jazz singers today!".
Born in Brooklyn, New York and raised in Worcester, Massachusetts, Victor’s love of music was cultivated and shaped by his mother, a singer and a Julliard-trained pianist. He studied voice and performed at jazz clubs and private events on the weekends after work. “Music is my second career but my first love”, is how he explains his decision to pursue his dream. That dream became reality when he teamed up with Grammy-nominated producer/singer/songwriter, Kashif (George Benson, Al Jarreau, Whitney Houston). Their collaboration on his debut album, “Promise”, garnered international radio airplay and a spot on the Billboard Chart. As an independent artist, Victor has recorded five critically acclaimed CDs on his own label, Regina Records. Victor has shared the stage with Isaac Hayes, Cameo, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Melba Moore, James Ingram, Patti Austin, Regina Belle and others.
Performing along with Victor Fields are some of the island’s most accomplished musicians: keyboardist Jeff Hellmer; saxophonist John Zangrando; guitarist Prem Brosio; bassist Ian Sheridan; drummer Paul Marchetti; and, percussionist Larry Fitzgerald.
