The US Coast Guard Auxiliary and the US Coast Guard are launching National Safe Boating Week with an informative and fun event at the Kihei Boat Ramp on Saturday, May 20, from 8:30am to 12:30pm. There will be lots of free safe boating information and services available and free stuff for the keiki.
Trailer your boat down for a free Recreational Vessel Safety Exam by the Coast Guard Auxiliary and get your 2023 sticker.
‘Register’ your kayak and SUP boards with a free orange sticker (with your name and phone numbers) to put on your toys, which can help you recover your property if it is lost. The contact info can also help determine whether a Search and Rescue mission is needed or not, if your craft is found afloat without you!
US Coast Guard Station Maui will also join us with their 27’ response boat.
Also for the kids: Coastie - the Coast Guard Auxiliary's "Coastie The Safety Boat" Youth Education, Boating, and Water Safety Program.
A National Safe Boating Week Proclamation, from Maui Mayor Richard Bissen, will be available.
