Daniel Sullivan is a Maui-based photographer whose work captures the beauty of the Hawaiian Islands. He has been photographing the stunning landscapes of Maui for over 18 years, and his work has been featured in numerous publications and galleries around the world. He is the author of three fine art photography books. Daniel has now turned his lens to filmmaking, and his two films, Koholā & Coral Guardians are both relevant and breath-taking.
In the aftermath of the Lahaina wildfires, the return of the koholā (humpback whales) provides a powerful symbol of hope and healing. “Koholā” explores the cultural significance of these majestic creatures to the Hawaiian people, showcasing how their presence reaffirms ancestral connections and offers a path towards recovery. Danielʻs latest film, Coral Guardians, follows the protectors of this sacred resource.
