Join the community for an enchanted evening, which is sure to become an annual family holiday tradition. This full-length ballet features the beloved music by Peter Ilych Tchaikovsky, with costumes by Jennifer Oberg and The Sewing Hui.

Join Clara on her journey through a whimsical world of toy soldiers, dancing snowflakes, and the Land of Sweets as she embarks on a dreamlike adventure that celebrates the spirit of the holidays.  Featuring a talented cast of student and community dancers, a guest dancer from New York City, magical costumes, and dazzling sets, this year’s production is sure to create unforgettable memories for families and friends alike.

“We are excited to present our fourth annual production of The Nutcracker,” says Artistic Director Absalon Figueroa. “It has been inspiring to reimagine our ballet to support the pre-professional level of our dancers and challenge them as artists.”

"The dedicated volunteers of The Sewing Hui have added new designs this year, to delight our audiences with a visual feast. We hope the community will be carried away into a fantastical world with Clara," says Costume Director Jennifer Oberg.

Executive Director Danelle Watson Keenan reflects, “We are thrilled to be presenting at the MACC again. There is an elegance added being in this large theater. Our dancers are looking forward to sharing their hard work and embracing the moments on stage. We hope this production brings holiday cheer to your family and friends.”

This year’s cast features Anuhea Kelly and Kewen Imlay as the Sugar Plum Fairy, Erik Osterkil as Cavalier and Nutcracker, Aleeya Cantor-Charles as Snow Queen, Genevieve Kermode as Dew Drop, Macie Madaus as the Rat King, and Eliana Campos as Clara. Don’t miss the youngest dancers ages 3-6 who steal the show as angels and mice.

Erik Osterkil, as Cavalier and Nutcracker, is based in New York City where he currently dances with EMERGE125 under the direction of Tiffany Rea-Fisher.  Erik earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance with a concentration in Composition and a minor in Arts Management from SUNY Purchase Conservatory of Dance. He also studied at Taipei National University of the Arts and Lou Conte Dance Studio, training in ballet, contemporary, modern, Tai Chi, and more.  He will be teaching a special ballet class at Alexander Academy during his stay on Maui.  For more information, contact AAPA at 808-878-8970.
