The 'Ai Pono Foundation invites you to step back in time to the Roaring 20's at our 2nd Annual Fundraising event! 'Ai Pono Foundation is a local community-based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a mission to provide greater access to financial and educational resources to support those affected by Eating Disorders (ED).
Enjoy music, dancing, pupus and a silent auction during sunset at the beautiful Seascape Restaurant, all while raising funds for a great cause. Great Gatsby is the attire for the evening – it’s fun and also optional!
The evening’s program will feature a local wahine who will talk story, sharing her journey of recovery from ED. In addition, foundation board president Adam Coles, MD will provide a brief overview of social media’s influence on both the development and management of ED. The ever-popular Kristi Scott from Maui On Stage will emcee the event and music will be by Maui’s own DJ Dan.
We hope you’ll join us at the event to help us address the growing problem of ED on our island.
In 2019, Maui County had the highest rate of disordered eating among 9th-12th graders in the entire state at 22.4%. And while many people were gravely impacted by the isolation caused by COVID-19, statistics show that ER visits for eating disorders among teens doubled during the pandemic. An often-misunderstood condition with the second highest risk of death of any other mental illness ED disproportionately affects those who are 12 to 25 years of age.
Mahalo Nui!
