Rediscovering History: The Birth of Museums, Libraries and Archives in Hawaii
Hawaiian Mission Houses Historic Site and Archives and Lahaina Restoration Foundation invite you to History Theatre to hear the stories of Hawaii’s past from the people who lived it and in their own words.
Portrayals will include:
Robert Crichton Wyllie, whose work as Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Hawaiian Kingdom by King Kamehameha III led to a collection of important documents that formed the basis of the Hawaiʻi State Archives;
Edna Allyn, teacher and librarian whose work led to what is now the Hawaii Public Library system; and
George R. Carter, 2nd Territorial Governor and avid collector, whose collection helped form the basis of the Hawaiian Mission Houses Archives.

Doors: 6:00PM; Performance: 6:30PM
Waiola Church Graveyard
NOTES:
– Performance will occur in Waiola Church Cemetery.
– Doors open at 6 p.m. Performances start at 6:30 p.m.
– There will be three performances occurring simultaneously, and guests with cycle through all three performances, so please plan on a bit of walking during the event.
– While there will be seating at each location, be prepared to walk across possibly uneven ground after the sun sets.
– This is an outdoor event, so please dress accordingly. Water stations will be available throughout the event.
– Free parking is available at the site of the event (Waiola Church)
