ReTree Hawaiʻi will be hosting a guided walk and talk on “Ecological Gardening Using Native Plants” onTuesday, April 22 at Keālia Pond National Wildlife Refuge.
As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance the Pulelehua Nature Trail, ReTree Hawaiʻi has been sponsoring events that highlight sustainable, native-plant landscaping. This walk will showcase:
Ecological gardening can be adapted to any scale—from small backyard plots to acres of firebreak. Large-scale native plant communities have the power to restore degraded soils—an ideal gift to the ʻāina this Earth Day.
Two presentations will be offered, at 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Meet in the parking lot of the Keālia Pond National Wildlife Visitors Center, located at Milepost 6 on Maui Veterans Highway.
