#ʻAhahui Kaʻahumanu

The Kaʻahumanu Society (official name: ʻAhahui Kaʻahumanu) is a civic club in Hawai’i formed by Princess Victoria Kamāmalu in 1864 for the relief of the elderly and the ill. The club celebrates the life of Queen Kaʻahumanu and the preservation of Hawaiian culture.

Due to inclement weather and the severe weather forecast, the celebration (which was originally planned for March 15) has been re-scheduled to Thursday, March 19. It will begin with a traditional lei draping ceremony led by the ʻAhahui Kaʻahumanu royal society.

The 153rd Annual King Kamehameha Day holiday will be observed with festivities statewide. This year’s celebration theme is “E Hoʻomau – Celebrating Mary Kawena Pukui.” On Maui, Nā King Kamehameha Commemorative Pāʻū Parade and Hoʻolauleʻa will take place on June 21, 2025.

To celebrate community pride and local culture, cities across the nation have been transforming their area codes into holidays and events. Queen Kaʻahumanu Center is excited to bring this tradition to Hawaiʻi with the launch of 808 Bash, a new signature event for the center. The day’s activities will run from 12 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24.
