East Maui water permits set for action by Board of Land and Natural Resources
The Board of Land and Natural Resources is expected to take action Friday on a staff recommendation to issue a revocable permit to Alexander & Baldwin and subsidiary East Maui Irrigation Co. for the use of surface stream water.
Luxury boat owners appeal $1.8 million fine for February 2023 grounding at Honolua Bay
The owners of a luxury yacht that broke loose from its moorings in February 2023 and went aground north of Honolua-Mokulē‘ia Bay are appealing a $1.8 million fine assessed against them by the Board of Land and Natural Resources.

The case involves a June ruling by 1st Circuit Environmental Court Judge Jeffrey Crabtree to limit East Maui stream diversions to 31.5 million gallons per day from the previous 40.49 million gallons authorized by the Hawai’i Board of Land and Natural Resources.
