After Māʻalaea, Hōkūleʻa has arrived to Kahoʻolawe

For the last two weeks, Hōkūleʻa has been docked at Māʻalaea, where the crew has been hosting students and the community for tours and presentations as part of the Pae ʻĀina Statewide Sail. The crew departed Māʻalaea early Friday morning and arrived in Kahoʻolawe later that day.

Small Craft Advisory for Māʻalaea, Pailolo, ʻAlenuihāhā

A small craft advisory is in effect for Māʻalaea Bay, the Pailolo Channel between Maui and Molokaʻi, and the ʻAlenuihāhā Channel between Maui and Hawaiʻi Island until 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2014.

Wild Weather on Maui: Gale Warning, High Winds, Rough Surf

Several weather advisories are in effect for the islands within Maui County. This includes a gale warning, a high surf advisory for east facing shores, and a wind advisory atop Haleakalā and across Kahoʻolawe.

Small Craft Advisory Issued Through Thursday

Forecasters from the NWS say easterly trade winds will increase tonight over Maui County and Hawaiʻi Island waters, with winds accelerating along with windward coasts of Maui, Molokai and Hawaiʻi.

The National Weather Service issued a Small Craft Advisory until 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12, with seas of over 10 feet expected for most Hawaiian coastal waters.
