County officials are urging Maui County residents to prepare now for possible storm impacts from Ana. The Mayor advises the public should prepare in advance by getting your seven day supply of food, fueling your vehicles, securing your homes and making sure you have an evacuation plan ready.

Mayor Arakawa asked that residents stay indoors this evening. “Civil Defense has recommended that no one, except for emergency personnel be out on the roads past 9 p.m.,” he said during the press conference. “This is very important, as we are expecting damaging tropical storm force winds of up to 60 mph, as well as potential life-threatening flash floods and rock and mudslides.”

Waiehu Siren Overnight Malfunction
Officials with the Maui Civil Defense agency say the incident occurred at around 2 a.m. at a single siren located off of Waiehu Beach Road.
