Hawaiian Electric nears completion on storm restoration work: 248 without power on Big Island
As of 8 a.m. today, about 248 Hawai‘i Island customers remain without power. Crews are continuing to respond to scattered, isolated outages in the following areas:
Red Cross staffing shelters for Big Island residents facing extended power outage
Two post-impact shelters are now open due to extended power outages across the Big Island in the wake of Hurricane Hone. Hawaiʻi County has opened these shelters under their guidelines and requested that the American Red Cross staff them with the purpose of serving those who have been without power since the storm’s passing over the weekend.
