Tahiti’s Michel Bourez recorded a stunning victory in triple-overhead waves Friday at the Vans World Cup of Surfing at Sunset Beach.

Windy conditions prevail as strong trade winds in the 15-30+ mph range also produce east swell for Maui.

This weekend’s WNW swell didn’t materialize on Maui like it did for the North Shore of Oahu and just in time for day 1 of the Pipeline Masters event on Saturday.

Take a look out at the north shore and you can see there isn’t very much happening in terms of riding waves. Maybe Mother Nature is taking a break from pumping out swell after swell, which made the month of November one to remember.
