Maui police cold case unit highlights missing persons cases, seeks help in locating them

The Maui Police Department has released short videos highlighting missing persons cases that are being investigated by the department’s Cold Case / Missing Person Detail unit. Over the past month, the department has highlighted 16 missing individuals, including four who were reported missing after the Aug. 8, 2023 wildfires in Lahaina.

The Maui Police Department issued a missing person update today saying they are still actively looking for Billy Oliveira, who was reported missing on July 16, 2015.

East Maui Man Still Missing After Nine Months

Family members of East Maui resident Billy Oliveira have renewed their plea for help in locating him, in the hopes that new information will surface in the case that has seen little if any movement since it was first reported.

VIDEO UPDATE: Search for Billy Oliveira Continues, Missing Since July 13

The search continues for William “Billy” Oliveira, who was last seen Monday July 13, 2015 in the Nāhiku area of East Maui. Maui police say their search for Oliveira remains “active,” and at this point authorities do not suspect foul play, according to Lieutenant William Juan with the Maui Police Department’s Community Relations section. Family members, meantime, are relying on the help of the Maui Search and Rescue organization to assist in an ongoing ground search of areas including the East Maui shoreline and Upcountry areas.

Missing Person: Oliveira Last Seen in Nāhiku on Monday

Police say Oliveira was last seen in Nāhiku at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Monday, July 14, 2015. He is described as 39-years-old, standing 5’11” tall, weighing 180 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
