The Maui Memorial Medical Center hosted an open house for its Outpatient Clinic last week. The clinic currently houses specialty services in the following fields: General Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology, Cardiac Surgery, Medical Oncology, Gastroenterology, Orthopedic Surgery and Neurosurgery.

Dr. Tracy Dorheim and Dr. Kimble Poon join the staff of the only hospital outside of Oahu to provide a full range of cardiac services, including open-heart surgery and angioplasty.

Maui Memorial Medical Center’s Maui Heart & Vascular cardiology program is now partnering with Kula Hospital and Clinic to offer limited cardiology services beginning on August 6.

The helicopter, which begins trial landings at the facility on Monday, is expected to save 10-15 minutes by landing on campus, instead of at the War Memorial Complex in Wailuku. In five years doctors say they can imagine a network that extends throughout the under-served eastern Hawaii region.

Maui Memorial Medical Center becomes the first neighbor island hospital in the state to offer this level of care for coronary artery disease. The new healthcare treatment program targets acute and emergent problems in heart disease, specifically heart attacks.
