Helping children cope after the Maui wildfires
Children who lived through Maui’s wildfires may continue to feel trauma, according to the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Behavioral experts say families can take steps to help children process their emotions and anxieties to help them heal.

“Keiki who feel a sense of being cared for, supported and belonging at school and home are more likely to experience positive mental health outcomes in adulthood,” said Dr. Scott Shimabukuro, acting administrator for the DOH Child & Adolescent Mental Health Division.
