David Lewis, 38, of Kahului was reported missing by a concerned acquaintance on Friday, Aug. 14, 2026. He last spoke with his acquaintance via phone in February of 2026.  Prior to this, Lewis had maintained regular monthly contact. It is further reported that he has not had any contact with several mutual friends or associates.

The Polynesian sailing canoes, Hōkūleʻa and Hikianalia sailed to Honolua Bay on Maui yesterday, marking the 45th anniversary of Hōkūleʻa’s maiden voyage to Tahiti. Saturday’s event honored Mau Piailug, the 1976 Crew and Pwo Navigator Kālepa Baybayan.
