Portions of the Hāna Highway (Route 31) south of Hāna town will be closed overnight from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. beginning Sunday, Feb. 7, through Friday, Feb. 12, for on-site engineering studies.

Preliminary engineering and environmental compliance studies are set to get underway on Thursday, Jan. 28, for the improvement of the Waikamoi and South Wailua bridges in East Maui.

Work to replace the Waiohonu Bridge in East Maui begins tomorrow. Work on the project is scheduled to run from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on weekdays, with completion slated by March 6, 2013.

Two weeks after heavy rains undermined the Hanawana Bridge in East Maui, residents cut off by the partial collapse are nervous about ongoing erosion, but thankful that repairs have been expedited and are set to start next week.

Work begins on Tuesday, March 27, to clear the area and begin assessment for repairs.
