The Hawaiʻi Board of Land and Natural Resources, as represented by the Department of the Attorney General, prevailed on appeal in a case regarding the continuation of revocable permits for the diversion of water from streams in East Maui to Central and Upcountry Maui.

East Maui water rights will be one of the issues up for discussion at tomorrow’s Board of Land and Natural Resources meeting, scheduled to start at 9 a.m. at the Kalanimoku Building in Honolulu.

Since water from the reservoir is no longer needed for irrigation, the state proposes its removal to allow the unobstructed downstream flow of the Kōlea Stream.
