US Senator Mazie K. Hirono (D-HI) announced the official release of the new Patsy T. Mink quarter, which is part of the US Mint’s American Women Quarters Program for 2024.

The late US Congresswoman, Patsy Takemoto Mink of Maui, is among five women being featured on a new US quarter design.  The design was unveiled this week by the US Mint.

The life and legacy of legendary educator and cultural icon Edith Kanakaʻole will be celebrated on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo.

The US Mint today announced that its 2024 American Women Quarters collection will include a quarter honoring Rep. Patsy T. Mink of Maui, the first woman to represent Hawaiʻi in the US Congress and the first woman of color to serve in Congress. A separate commemorative quarter honoring Edith Kanakaʻole, is scheduled to be put into circulation later this year.

The new commemorative quarter design honoring Edith Kanakaʻole is one of five released today by the US Mint honoring prominent women in American history as part of the Mint’s American Women Quarters Program.

The late Edith Kanakaʻole, has been selected by the US Mint to appear on the back of the US Quarter as part of the 2023 American Women Quarters series.
