Mayor Alan Arakawa will discuss the Kahului Wastewater Facility during his one-hour TV show entitled, “Your County with Mayor Arakawa,” which airs live on Akaku Channel 55 tonight, Wednesday, June 6 at 7 p.m.

Stewart Stant replaces former director Kyle Ginoza, who left the county earlier this month to accept an offer for employment with Hawaiʻi Gas.

Committee Chair Elle Cochran called the zero waste policy “a sustainable approach to waste management,” saying the policy, if adopted, would result in all products being reused instead of being sent to landfills and incinerators.

Final notices were mailed out, with a due date of January 25, 2013. County officials say all accounts that remain unpaid after the deadline will be closed, and a $30 fee will be charged to re-open an account.

The original revetment was constructed in 1979 at the recommendation of the Army Corps of Engineers to protect the facility.
