Former CIA officer sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for conspiracy to commit espionage
In March 2003, while living in Hawaiʻi, Alexander Yuk Ching Ma, 71, of Honolulu applied for a job as a contract linguist in the FBI’s Honolulu Field Office. The FBI, aware of Ma’s ties to People’s Republic of China intelligence, hired Ma as part of a ruse to monitor and investigate his activities and contacts with the Shanghai State Security Bureau.
Court Upholds Mauian’s Conviction in Sale of National Secrets
Noshir S. Gowadia was sentenced to to 32 years in prison in 2010 for communicating classified national defense information to the People’s Republic of China, illegally exporting military technical data, as well as money laundering, filing false tax returns and other offenses.
