Helping UH students affected by funding freezes, executive orders
At the urging of University of Hawaiʻi President Wendy Hensel, the UH Foundation is working to raise private donations to support graduate students whose funding has been interrupted due to recent federal executive orders.
$6.6M in new federal grant program heading to Hawaiʻi to build more housing
Gov. Josh Green, M.D., alongside US Sen. Brian Schatz and HUD Regional Administrator Jason Pu, on Wednesday announced that Hawai‘i has been awarded more than $6.6 million in new federal grant funding to help build more housing. The funding comes from a new grant program based on Schatz’s bipartisan ‘Yes In My Backyard’ legislation and was first funded in the fiscal year 2023 appropriations bill.
Hawaiʻi Awarded $1.5 Million in Land and Water Conservation Fund Grants
Hawaiʻi will receive more than $1.5 million in funding from the federal Land and Water Conservation Fund to support the City and County of Honolulu and the Hawaiʻi Department of Land and Natural Resources with improvements to parks on Oʻahu, Kauaʻi and Maui.
