Gov. Ige vetoes 28 of 30 bills on his Intent to Veto list
The governor is vetoing 26 bills and line-item vetoing two bills out of the 30 bills listed on his Intent to Veto list released on June 27.
Gov. Ige Vetoes 26 Bills
Governor David Ige today announced that he has vetoed 26 of the 28 bills on his Intent to veto list. Earlier today, the governor sent a Statement of Objections for each of the 26 bills to the Hawai‘i State Legislature.

Governor’s Statement on Veto Override of SB 2077
Governor Ige on Thursday night issued a statement in response to the legislative override of his earlier veto of Senate Bill 2077 relating to Maui hospitals.

Governor Ige has informed the legislature of his intent to veto a list of eight bills. Noticeably absent from the list was the controversial marijuana dispensaries bill, which the governor continues to review. “There are concerns in terms of the implementation. The implementation schedule is very aggressive. We’ll be working very hard to meet those deadlines, but resources made available to the department as well as the aggressive schedule will be a challenge. So, I’m committed to implementing the law in the best way that we can,” said Gov. Ige.
