Registration is now open for the 2026 Molokaʻi Channel World Championships

Registration is now open for the 2026 Moloka’i Channel World Championships, drawing over 1,000 elite paddlers from around the globe for two iconic 41-mile inter-island races — Nā Wāhine O Ke Kai on Sept. 27 and the Moloka’i Hoe on Oct. 11.

8.6 acres at Hāmoa, Maui forever protected for cultural preservation, stewardship

Ke Ao Hāliʻi, a Hāna-based nonprofit community organization, in partnership with the County of Maui, State of Hawaiʻi, and Hawai‘i Land Trust, has completed the purchase of 8.6 acres of Hāmoa lands for permanent cultural preservation and stewardship. The County of Maui contributed $800,000 and the State of Hawaiʻi Legacy Land Conservation Program contributed $247,500 toward the purchase.

Boat Grounded at Hale o Lono, Freed Overnight

Upon arrival, personnel located a 36-foot sloop vessel that had it’s keel grounded next to the breakwall. Authorities say those aboard were able to free the vessel and proceeded into the harbor channel area where it was anchored overnight.
