Maui wildfires one year later: Flags ordered to half-staff in memory of lives lost
With the one year mark of the deadly blaze approaching, Gov. Josh Green has ordered that the United States flag and the Hawaiʻi state flag be flown at half-staff, from sunrise on Aug. 8 to sunset on Aug. 12, in honor of those lives lost.

To honor the lives of those lost, including Americans, that began with the attacks on Israel over the weekend, Hawaiʻi Gov. Josh Green has ordered the United States and Hawai‘i state flags be flown at half-staff at state facilities.
Governor Orders All Flags to be Half-Staff on Monday
Gov. Neil Abercrombie today ordered all national and Hawai’i flags at state offices and agencies as well as Hawai’i National Guard facilities to be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Monday, May 21, in memory of former state Senator Wadsworth Y.H. Yee. Senator Yee died May 8 at age 90.
