The transfer of the lease is expected to close on June 30 and Kaiser is slated to begin operations on July 1, 2016.

State begins negotiations with Kaiser Permanente for a partnership with Maui hospitals. State hopes to finalize an agreement by the end of the year.

I believe it is incumbent upon the Governor to keep the people’s best interest in mind and consider halting negotiations, if necessary, and commit to providing the emergency funds needed for the State to keep the hospitals running until a proper deal can be negotiated. -Lt. Gov. Tsutsui
