State set to expand free school meals for Hawaiʻi working families

Beginning with the 2026-27 school year, students from households with incomes at or below 300% of the federal poverty level are now eligible for one free breakfast and one free lunch each school day.

The Hawaiʻi Department of Human Services is preparing families across the state for upcoming changes to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), effective Oct. 1, 2025.

Parents invited to join ʻOhana Leadership Council to advocate for Hawaiʻi families

The council is currently accepting applications for new members through April 30, 2025.
