Hawaiʻi delegation advocates for enhanced recovery funds in Washington D.C. after Maui wildfire
Following the wildfires on August 8 that devastated areas of Maui County, a delegation from Hawaiʻi is set to meet officials in Washington D.C. this week. The primary objective is to evaluate current recovery allocations and to discuss the potential for additional resources to facilitate economic recovery and both immediate and sustainable relief for Maui County.

Hawai’i Delegation Votes in Support of Compromise Bill, Default Averted
The U.S. Senate today voted 74 to 26 in favor of raising the debt ceiling, in an effort to meet the nation’s deadline to pay its bills on time. Under the compromise legislation, the nation’s borrowing cap is raised, and more than $2 trillion in budget cuts is in store over the next 10 years.
