The Mālama Puʻuwai program focuses on education, healthy food choices, exercise, screening and referrals. The program is aimed at promoting wellness through early detection and modification of cardiovascular disease risk factors.

The Maui Memorial Medical Center has received an award from the American Heart Association for reaching goals in treating patients with heart failure. This marks the fourth year that the facility has been recognized with the Gold Plus quality achievement award.
