Bus crash in Laupāhoehoe on Hawaiʻi Island sends 22 to the hospital with minor injuries

Hawai‘i Island police are investigating a traffic crash involving a County of Hawai‘i Hele-On bus that occurred early Tuesday morning, Sept. 30, 2025, along Māmalahoa Highway, (Highway 19), in Laupāhoehoe that sent 22 people to the hospital. 

More than $62 million in federal funds secured for Hawaiʻi to support bus systems

The funding is for the operation and capital costs associated with Hawai‘i’s public transit systems, including the Maui Bus, TheBus, Kaua‘i Bus, Hele-On Bus, and TheHandi-Van fleets.
