Home sales hit 25-year low, housing crisis explained in UHERO factbook
The past year has brought significant shocks to the housing market in Hawaiʻi. Per the University of Hawaiʻi Economic Research Organization (UHERO), overall transactions in 2023 was only half of what it was in 2021, and fewer single family homes were transacted in Hawaiʻi last year than in any of the last 25 years.
Rally Touts Affordable Housing Plan Amid “Housing Crisis”
The Comprehensive Affordable Housing Plan, created and presented by Hawaiian Community Assets, involves a five-year overhaul to the county’s affordable housing approach that would bring in 5,000 homes, offered to two-year Maui residents who are under 120 percent area median income.
