UH System reaches 20% of net-zero energy goal
In 2025, the University of Hawaiʻi System has achieved 20.49% of its goal to become net-zero, according to a recent report submitted to the Hawaiʻi State Legislature. The target is for all 10 UH campuses to produce as much renewable energy as they consume by Jan. 1, 2035.
Hawaiʻi Energy extends application deadline for 2023-2024 Empower Grant program
Originally set to close on Sept. 29, 2023, Hawaiʻi Energy will continue to accept applications on a first come, first served basis, until funds are exhausted. Nonprofits, small businesses, and restaurants that are pursuing energy efficiency projects may apply for a grant of up to $6,000, which may cover up to 100% of eligible project costs.
$100,000 grant from Johnson Controls to UH Maui College
University of Hawaiʻi Maui College will invest a $100,000 grant—including $70,000 cash and $30,000 for equipment—from Johnson Controls in training and educational opportunities to support future workforce leaders across the HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning), fire, and security industries.
