Japan Tsunami Gift Fund Supported Removal and Detection
In 2013, Hawaiʻi received a portion of a $5 million diplomatic monetary gift offered to the US by the Government of Japan with the intent to help the affected US states address Japan tsunami marine debris or “JTMD”.
